About your author

Some self promotional material.

My name is Gary Bridgeman and I work as a project manager for ERTICO-ITS Europe which is based in rainy Brussels Belgium.

I coordinate the FP7 funded project i-Travel on behalf of the 19 strong consortium as well as look after security aspects related to ITS systems, I chair the European Organisation for Security’s working group on surface traveller security as well as coordinate the ERTICO partner topic group on security.

I’ve a background in Navigation and telematics stretching back 17 years, starting out in the British Royal Air force where I trained as an Avionics Engineer working on autopilot systems, weapon aiming systems, RADAR, radio, and navigation systems.

It was my experience on navigation that enabled me to get a position with Jaguar cars LtdĀ  where I was one of 2 design engineers that developed the first Jaguar S-type navigation system. Since Jaguar I have worked for Motorola on their telematic products for Jaguar, Vauxhall cars developing navigation systems and for Saab developing the 93 navigation and traffic information system.

I joined ERTICO in February 2007 and I’m still enjoying the challenges that it presents. In my spare time I like to fly private planes as well as run a little side business in photography (shameless plug there).

I have a professional presence at Linkedin.

You can also follow me on twitter, but this won’t be a professional presence.
